Prof. Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu
Minister of Health
Prof. Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu is originally from Rize and was born in Trabzon in 1966. After graduating from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1990, he received his General Surgery Specialization from Istanbul Okmeydanı Training Hospital in 1995.
Between 1996 and 1998, he worked as a General Surgery Specialist at SSK Konya Ereğli Hospital, PTT Hospital and Bursa Military Hospital. He worked at the University of Miami Liver and Gastrointestinal Transplantation Unit between 1999-2000. In 2000-2002, I.U. He served as Chief Assistant at Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, Department of General Surgery.
He was appointed as Chief Physician at PTT Hospital at the end of 2002 and became Associate Professor of General Surgery in 2008. He completed his Master's degree in Health Management at Beykent University, which he started in 2007, in 2009. He worked as Chief Physician at Istanbul Fatih Sultan Mehmet Training and Research Hospital for 10 years.
In November 2012, he was appointed as the Head of Medical Services to the General Secretary of the Istanbul Anatolian Northern Public Hospitals Association and became the General Secretary of the same union in May 2014. In 2016, he was appointed to the position of Professor at the University of Health Sciences Fatih Sultan Mehmet Health Application and Research Center (SUAM) as a General Surgery Faculty Member. He served as Istanbul Provincial Health Director since October 2016 and was appointed as the Minister of Health on July 2, 2024.
Prof. Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu is married and the father of three children.
